May 5, 1971 was the day that put the Shaw brothers, Owen, River, and Elias, and the Sahar twins, Athena and Katrine, on a trajectory they couldn’t avoid after tragedy struck the Sahar household. Living as next-door neighbors for the last three years, they didn’t know a single thing about each other except the rumors that ran rampant throughout their small town of Hickory Falls, Virginia. The Shaws were a legacy in Hickory Falls, owning the most popular restaurants in town, much to Elias’ dismay, who was itching to get away from the family business. The Sahars were relatively new and too quirky for the traditional town, especially Athena, who dreamed of bigger and better worlds without the guilt of what happened weighing her down.
Elias and Athena develop a deep connection over late night snacks and conversations about their lives. Soon, they tumble headfirst into love, causing a ripple effect none of them ever expected.
